Published by the Faculty of Fine Arts of St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria Visual Studies is an academic journal of the arts, culture and humanities.
The Faculty of Fine Arts publishes the Visual Studies Journal since 2017 once a year. Since 2020 journal became publishing tri times per year. It publishes original articles, surveys and short scientific papers in which, besides prominent names in the scientific field, a forum is also given to young, visiting authors to share their scientific queries and professional observations in the following thematic directions:
• Culture and art
• Art Studies
• Theory and history of culture
• Fine Arts
• Architecture
• Literature
• Philosophy
• Aesthetics
• Cultural Heritage
The journal chooses only scientific articles that have proven authenticity and authorship after review by visual arts specialists. The review and the entire publishing process are comprehensive, objective, and fair.
The main ethical principles, the observance of which is mandatory for all parties involved in publishing and publishing the journal, are the following:
1. Authorship
Authorship is a significant intellectual contribution to scientific work, a role in writing the article and revising its final version; but it may vary to a certain extent. Who will be the authors, and in what order, should be determined by the participants in scientific work. All authors should take responsibility for the writing and authenticity of the information in the article and only one of them should guarantee and take responsibility for the whole article.
2. Major publishing errors
When an author discovers a material mistake or inaccuracy in his work, it is his duty to immediately notify the editor of the journal or the publisher and assist the editor in the withdrawal or correction of the work. If the editor or publisher learns from a third party that the published work contains a major mistake, it is the duty of the author to immediately withdraw or correct his work or provide the editor with proof of the authenticity of the original work.
3. Review
The reviewers are experts selected by Visual Editors to provide a written assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of a job in order to improve and identify the most appropriate and best quality material for the journal. Typically, reviewers selected by the journal have experience with original scientific papers and publication.
4. Editorial solutions
Decisions to approve a material and its future publication are based on its importance and importance, originality and clarity, as well as its relevance to the scope and content of the journal. If it is subsequently found that a published article has errors and / or drawbacks, the editor assumes responsibility for correcting them.
5. Originality
Visual materials are published in the Visual Studies Journal, which is not published elsewhere. Re-publishing in another language or simultaneously publishing in several different journals with different audiences can be accepted provided there is a declaration of the original source when submitting the article to the editorial team. During the submission of the article to the editors, the authors should submit in detail all their articles related to the material already published, even if they are in another language, all their author articles published on this subject in the press, all their author's articles this topic, published in the past, even those that are under seal.
6. Copyright
No-one else is permitted to use or reproduce someone else’s work in any way without the expressed permission of the creator or their representative. This applies to any reproduction of a work, whether found in print or online.
7. Assignation of rights
The authors publishing in Visual Studies are asked to assign non-exclusive rights to the publisher, since Visual Studies is an open access journal. The authors is allowed to disseminate their work on other platforms, but are restricted from simultaneous publication with another publisher for a period of 1 years, especially if it is a new publication. The Visual Studies Journal has got license type: CC BY-NC-ND /Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs.
